EAR CANDLING:
AN AGE OLD REMEDY
Ear Candling is a natural cleansing technique that has been used centuries ago possibly originating in the ancient Egypt. Native Americans have also done ear candling using corn husks, dipping them in beeswax to make a hollow candle. The process was also known in ancient India, Tibet, and in the Aztecs culture. The process spread to Europe, Greece and China and is now practiced around the world. Ear Candling was originally used for purification prior to or as part of ancient rites of initiation. Ear Candling was used to assist in opening the body's spiritual center, thus cleaning and cleansing the spiritual body through the physical. In fact, it is still believed by some that the ear candling process can break up blockages in the subtle energy system and the subconscious where repressed emotions and memories can lie hidden from the conscious mind, causing degenerative disease.

What should I expect from a candling session?
You will be asked to complete a Confidential Ear Candling Information sheet prior to receiving ear candling.  You may choose to fill it out prior to your appointment and bring it with you or complete it once you have arrived at your appointment.

Prior to the session, the method and what to expect from the ear candling session will be discussed.

Lying on the massage table, the practitioner will have you position a special hollow herb soaked candle in your ear,. Once secured, the candle is lighted and the smoke and heat from the candle will draw the wax and debris from your ear. You will not feel any discomfort. Some people feel so relaxed that they even fall asleep. listening to the relaxing music in the massage room.

What is candling used to treat?
The hollow waxed candles are soaked in healing herbs which assist in the removal of ear wax and may improve any of the following condition: sinus problems, sore throat, ear ache, swimmer's ear, some chronic headaches, allergies and hearing difficulties.

How long does a session last?
Each session generally takes approximately 45 min. to one hour. The time depends on how many candles are used (no more than two candles per ear, at one time, is recommended).

Are there any contraindications for ear candling?
Ear Candling can be done on anyone, young children as well as elderly. People who have had a recent ear, nose, throat, or sinus surgery of any kind, have tubes in the ears or have experienced any bleeding should not have ear candling.
